Ice hockey

A passion for 25 years

We have been closely associated with ice hockey for over 20 years and are proud to be the main partner of the two highest leagues in Switzerland – the PostFinance Women’s League and the National League. PostFinance will be an official partner of the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Zurich and Fribourg.

Thanks to the PostFinance Top Scorer, the junior divisions of all clubs benefit directly from financial support. More than CHF 8.5 million has been invested in up-and-coming Swiss ice hockey players since 2001.

PostFinance and ice hockey are a growing partnership. We have been investing in this sport for 25 years because it sets Switzerland in motion and embodies values that are also important to us: commitment, team spirit and responsibility. For us, the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland is a highlight of this commitment and a great festival for all sports enthusiasts
Beat Röthlisberger, CEO of PostFinance

Since the 2022/23 season, we have been committed to the highest Swiss women’s league, the PostFinance Women’s League, as the main and naming rights partner.

We actively promote equal opportunities – not only within the company, but also in our commitments.  In essence, this commitment helps to create more professional conditions in the Women’s League, to raise the profile of women’s ice hockey and to strengthen the promotion of young talent in women’s ice hockey.

We hope that even more girls will be able to enjoy ice hockey and find their way into this dynamic and active sport. With the promotion of young talent in women’s ice hockey, a whole ecosystem of further opportunities is growing. The more young talent rises through the ranks, the greater the chances of success all round, and the more motivated children will be to follow this path, too. The more licensed female players there are, the greater focus there will be on more professional conditions, which, in turn, will have a positive influence on the development of the sport.

We have been the main partner of the National League since 2001. We are committed to the long term and, in particular, to promoting young talent. So far, over CHF 8.5 million has flowed directly into the clubs’ junior divisions through the PostFinance Top Scorer initiative.

The yellow flame helmet and flame-emblazoned jersey are an integral and indispensable part of Swiss ice hockey. Since 2002, the best scorer in each team has been the PostFinance Top Scorer. But we’re not just honouring the performance of the players – the PostFinance Top Scorer is also a symbol of support for young players.

In the National League, for every point scored by the PostFinance Top Scorer, i.e. every goal and every assist, CHF 300 goes to the fund of the relevant junior division at the end of the regular season.

In the PostFinance Women’s League, every team benefits from the same amount. CHF 150,000 is distributed evenly among the eight teams. The vision is to implement the Top Scorer concept in the Women’s League in the same way as in the National League. However, recent seasons have shown that the Top Scorers in the best teams receive a lot more points than those in the teams at the bottom of the table. Distributing the funding based on these statistics would widen rather than narrow this gap. Through our commitment, we are working to reduce this imbalance.

The two main partnerships of the National League and the PostFinance Women’s League – including the PostFinance Top Scorer – are the central pillars of our ice hockey commitment. This will strengthen the leagues, their teams and the junior section, and all clubs in the two highest leagues will benefit from it.

There is also a partnership with SC Bern and HC Ambri-Piotta. Both clubs provide teams in the National League and the PostFinance Women’s League, making an important contribution to the professionalization of women’s ice hockey.

To complement our strong partnership in ice hockey, we have acquired the naming rights to the Bern Arena. Since 16 August 2007, the temple to ice hockey in Bern has been called the PostFinance Arena.

From 15 to 31 May 2026, the world’s best national ice hockey teams will come together in Zurich and Fribourg – a sporting event that doesn’t often take place in Switzerland. We are the official partner of the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. For us, this is another highlight of our long-standing commitment to Swiss ice hockey.
